Student Life in Malaysia

Malaysia has become a major player when it comes to the country of choice for international students. It is mainly post graduate studies that it is selected for, but there is a growing number of students going there for its undergraduate program. If you want to know why, there are a number of good reasons.
There is a wide range of colleges and universities and as many of the courses are conducted in English, it is going to attract students who already have a high level of English. There is a choice of public universities or private with the difference being that the public once concentrate on research based studies and the private ones that have undergraduate or post graduate courses. In some cases there is a link with foreign universities and the degrees offered are recognized globally.

The cost is going to encourage many students to come here as it would be cheaper here than in the UK, Australia, USA and New Zealand. This covers tuition fees and the cost of sitting the exam, but equally applies to the cost of living in Malaysia. Accommodation will be cheaper as will day to day spending, so when you add in the chance to visit some beautiful places on days off, it is understandable that there are many applications. It has been estimated that studying is 50% cheaper here. Money management will be much easier than in other countries.

Families are allowed to travel so there is no need to be parted from loved ones and if there are older students with children then this is a big advantage. Immigrants are certainly made welcome
For many students it will be a completely different way of life. New food, new way of life and totally different weather will greet you. There is a mix of the old and the new in Malaysia as many follow the old traditions, but shopping is a new part of the culture and many cities and modern and new. It is a friendly place to study, with student life being one that will be found in other countries, playing pool, visiting the cinema and making new friends.

Malaysia can certainly be classed as multi cultural, and religion plays a large part in the lives of many and this is something that has to be respected. A slight majority of the population are followers of Islam while there is also Christianity, Sikhism, Daoism, Hinduism and Buddhist.
